Dagestan Basketball Federation

Before the project

The federation's news, schedule and photos were spread across three services. There was no single place to send an athlete, a parent or a Russian Basketball Federation representative.

This created three problems:

• the schedule and news had to be looked up in different sources;

• any website update would have required manual copying;

• the regional ranking of the Russian Basketball Federation requires a separate section on anti-doping work.

Solution

We built a website that collects materials from the tools the federation already works in. News comes from the Telegram channel and refreshes every 10 minutes. The competition calendar is built from two Google Sheets - home tournaments and away events - with filters by type, organizer and month. Photo albums are pulled from the VK community together with the number of photos.

The referee panel comes from a registry in Google Sheets, but only the name, category and date of award are shown on the site: passport details, SNILS, INN and phone numbers are never published or stored. The site runs without a database, and what has to be edited by hand - events, broadcasts and documents - is changed in a custom admin panel.

What we did

Sections and content

• a home page with upcoming events and a news feed from the Telegram channel;

• a game calendar: home and away tournaments, filters, "Upcoming" and "Finished" statuses;

• a gallery of VK albums, match broadcasts, charter, registration and program documents;

• "About the federation": seven development areas, leadership and the referee panel;

• an Anti-doping section with a link to the Russian Basketball Federation page and RUSADA and WADA materials.

Admin panel

• calendar events with import from Google Sheets, broadcasts, competition documents;

• calendar source, VK gallery settings, cache refresh;

• password sign-in and forms protected against request forgery.

Brand style and technical base

• the site in the federation's brand style: gold, an emblem with the Dagestan tricolor, signature lines;

• a brand style guide and letterhead for the federation;

• mobile version, extensionless URLs, sitemap.xml and robots.txt.
